1. Information we collect

We collect information from and about you in the following ways:

Information you provide. This may include account and profile details (such as username, email address, and password or authentication tokens), content you post in forums or elsewhere on the Service (including text, images, and attachments), communications you send to us or other users (such as private messages, where offered), and information you submit through forms, surveys, or support requests.

Information collected automatically. When you use the Service, we and our service providers may collect certain technical and usage information, such as IP address, device and browser type, operating system, general location inferred from IP, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, and dates and times of access. We may use cookies and similar technologies as described below.

Information from third parties. We may receive information from authentication or identity providers if you sign in through them, from payment processors if you make purchases with us, from analytics or advertising partners, and from other sources as permitted by law.

2. How we use the information we collect

We use the information we collect for purposes such as:

  • Providing, operating, and improving the Service
  • Creating and managing accounts and authenticating users
  • Displaying posts, profiles, and community features
  • Communicating with you about the Service, security, and policy updates
  • Providing customer service, technical support, and responding to inquiries
  • Protecting the safety, security, and integrity of EECTuning, our users, and the public, including detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use or Community Rules
  • Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our agreements
  • Analyzing usage trends and measuring the effectiveness of features and communications
  • Personalizing content and, where applicable, delivering interest-based advertising as described in this policy

Where required by law, we rely on appropriate legal bases for processing (such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where applicable).

3. Cookies, tracking technologies and interest-based advertising

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to recognize you and your devices, remember preferences, understand how the Service is used, and support security. Some cookies are essential for the Service to function; others help us analyze traffic or deliver relevant advertising.

Third-party advertising or analytics partners may set their own cookies or collect information about your browsing over time and across sites. They may use that information to show you ads based on your interests. You can control cookies through your browser settings (for example, blocking or deleting cookies). If you opt out of interest-based ads through industry tools or browser settings, you may still see generic ads. Opt-out choices may need to be renewed if you clear cookies or use a different browser or device.

4. How we disclose your information

We may disclose information in these circumstances:

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf (such as hosting, email delivery, analytics, security, moderation tools, and customer support), subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Public and community content. Content you post in public areas of the Service may be visible to other users and, in some cases, indexed by search engines or republished according to our Terms.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental requests; to enforce our policies or agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of EECTuning, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard protections.
  • With your direction or consent. We may share information when you ask us to or otherwise consent.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Where “sale” or “sharing” has specific meanings under state privacy laws, we describe applicable rights in the sections below.

5. How we store and protect your information and information retention

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and how it is used.

6. Links to external content

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing personal information to them.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age required to use the Service under our Terms of Use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe we have collected information from a child inappropriately, please contact us using the email below and we will take appropriate steps.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or export certain data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise rights that apply to you, contact us at the email in the “How to contact us” section. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.

You can control marketing emails through unsubscribe links where provided. Cookie and advertising choices are described in Section 3.

9. International Users

We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection rules than your country of residence. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in such countries, subject to appropriate safeguards where required by law.

10. Notice for California Residents

This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (“CCPA”) and related laws apply to our processing. It supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy.

Categories of personal information collected. In the preceding twelve months, we may have collected identifiers (such as name, email, username, IP address), commercial information, internet or network activity, geolocation data (such as general location from IP), and other categories described in Section 1, depending on how you use the Service.

Purposes; sensitive personal information. We use each category for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 2. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require an opt-out under the CCPA beyond permitted purposes.

Sales and sharing. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We may allow certain partners to use cookies or similar technologies for analytics or advertising in ways that could constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You may opt out of such sharing through cookie controls and browser settings as described in Section 3, and by contacting us as below.

Your California rights. Subject to exceptions, California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and may have rights to opt out of certain processing. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request in some cases. We will not discriminate against you for exercising CCPA rights.

To submit a request, email us at the address in Section 11. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
